- Description
- FieldScribe is a mobile-first, offline-capable web app for capturing biological and environmental sample metadata in the field and exporting it in the format each downstream database expects. It offers two workflows: specimen sampling for organisms, exporting to the ERGA / DToL and BGE PopGenomics sample manifests and the BOLD / iBOL barcoding template (as CSV and Excel; ready for brokering via COPO); and an eDNA / environmental workflow covering ten ENA GSC MIxS checklists and exporting an ENA-ready TSV. The app shows only the fields relevant to the task, works with no connection once loaded, and stores data on the user's own device with one-tap backup and export. It is a single self-contained page with no backend or login, built for the SciLifeLab Planetary Biology Strategic Area (Uppsala University) in collaboration with ERGA and BGE/BGE+. FieldScribe is an evolving open prototype; feedback and bug reports are welcome via its GitHub repository.
